STONE TEMPLE PILOTS SHOWED UP TWO HOURS LATE IN CANADA LAST NIGHT, CANCEL TONIGHT’S SHOW

Published On September 18, 2012 | By Brett Buchanan | Featured, Stone Temple Pilots

Stone Temple Pilots did not hit the stage until just before 11PM at their show last night in Abbotsford, Canada. Many fans booed and left before the show started.  Here are some fans tweets regarding the band showing up late, and trust me there are worse ones out there.

@AndrewBucholtz: Well, this is interesting. Almost 90 mins after opening band, Stone Temple Pilots not on stage. Crowd getting restless, booing loudly.

@sandj1984: People are leaving the building…Stone Temple Pilots haven’t appeared and the crowd is booing

@mysterysnake: So is stone temple pilots cancelled or what???? 2 hrs late to stage! WTF!?

@vyesac: stone temple pilots are frauds #worst concert ever

@sandra5fleming: Zayden first concert – Stone Temple Pilots – and it’s a no-show. Sorry hon. Glad we left at 10:30. #long wait #yuckydrunkpeople

@twistedtanners: #stp – EPIC FAIL! Waited two hours for the band…never again.

@TheRedShadow1: #stp Expect the refund call tomorrow. Don’t care if you went on stage. 2 hours late is totally unacceptable!

@TheMidniteFaery: Better late than never!! Stone Temple Pilots came on!! http://instagr.am/p/PtLcVCquG0/

Stone Temple Pilots have also canceled their show scheduled for tonight (September 18th) in Lethbridge, Alberta at the ENMAX Centre, likely due to low tickets sales.  There’s an incorrect report out there citing vocal issues for Weiland and saying the rest of the tour is canceled but they’re quoting a press release from a year ago and are totally wrong, especially since Weiland eventually did show up for last night’s STP show.

    “how the mighty have fallen”

  2. Jenn says:

STP was great when they finally went on; great performance, good vocals, fair sound-tech. The show was worth going to see, but the Abbotsford arena totally bites. Waiting is annoying, but not knowing WHY you are waiting is the worst — 2 hours and no announcement = terrible customer service. There were some empty seats (even before people started jumping ship) but what do you expect when you play a show out in the boonies…there is no public transit in the Valley!!! Put your shows on in town, and in smaller venues if you want crowds! Like, how about the Commodore in Vancouver?! Who is booking these shows so far out? You’re trying to capture a crowd that once followed you, and who haven’t heard anything new in a while… go to them, don’t make them trek so far out to you!

    Long-time fan.

“Jimmy Kimmel: Now, Scott, surely you must know that as an addict you can’t drink alcohol, right?

Scott Weiland: Actually, I can. Most people can’t, but I can.”

    Yeah.

  4. cosmicatomic says:

Just glad I lucked out and got a good STP show! I don’t think I’ll risk going to another!

  5. Patrick says:

20 years ago, this would have made MTV News.

    Now, its expected.

  6. Ray says:

The worst part is only stp’s BIGGEST fans from vancouver would have been willing to trek out to abbotsford and see them. People would have appreciated an early night as they still have to drive an hour at least to get back to the lower mainland. This is unaccepfable and I hope people at this show get their money back.

  7. Zod says:

Reminds me of when Axl Rose shows up late to shows. Similar complains are lodged.

It is a conundrum though. Showing up late (not on time) seems to be anti-establishment which used to be at the heart of rock music.

Now all the rock fans have day jobs and have to get up early.. lol.

  8. Whitney says:

My husband were very much looking forward to the concert, but 2 hours late, that is absolutely unacceptable. When you say show starts at 8, the first band got on at 8:30, they were fantastic, then we stood around and waiting till 10:30 and left. We were worried there would be a riot! WTF That is so disrespectful – people paid good money to come and see them and spent time getting there, and they completely disregarded that fact. they are so far removed from regular people in their thinking! Thank god we won our tickets or else I would be requesting a refund! But we still spent money on food and booze there that I wouldn’t have spent – so here’s one fan that is no longer a fan!

People, it’s important to remember one thing here. You can bet your life savings this event wasn’t The Pilots’ fault. It was Scott Weiland’s fault. Robert, Dean & Eric are completely different kinds of people from the negative qualities Scott displays (showing up late much of the time, being one). I would bet anything I had this escapade was Scott’s fault alone…

  11. Shane says:

I can’t believe how this shit has become with Scott, yet again.

STP really need to hang it up. There is far too much potential in that band, and it’s all wasted because of a singer who doesn’t give a fuck about anything but himself.

Would AIC, PJ, or Soundgarden ever do this shit? NOPE!

    Scott is pathetic.

  12. Jeff says:

Anyone who is saying that this show had good sound has got to be further off their rocker then STP was last night, sound was horrid everywhere and yes we moved repeatedly from side to infront to the floor, you couldnt make out the vocals at all. Sounded like Scott was muttering through the lyrics. This was my second STP show and what an extreme let down. I feel for anyone that paid more then 20 bucks for this garbage. Guess I’m half the fan that I used to be…

  13. BillyL says:

I’ve been saying for years how I won’t go see STP live due to Scott not being able to get his shit together. Every now and then you’ll hear fans talk about a “great” show, but then you watch the YouTube vids and realize that it wasn’t great, it was, at best, not bad. And even so, you’re buying a concert ticket, not a lottery ticket; you shouldn’t have to be lucky to get your money’s worth.

As sad as it is, it’s been a long time since STP/Weiland stories like this wasn’t the norm. It’s a fucking shame, too. It’s ruining the legacy of STP.

Scott, hang it up. Go away. Get better. Survive.

  14. Invisible says:

Regardless of the reason STP still can fix this if they want to continue or if they don’t it’s all over.

I think the DeLeo bros are two of the best axe players out of all the bands covered here.
They want to just create music and perform for the fans. Hopefully Scott realizes the chance he has been given.

  15. Andrew Bowen says:

At least y’all got to see them, those of us in Lethbridge won’t.
BUT having too long an intermission is unforgivable. Went to see Chris Cornell a few years back in Calgary. I had to teach the next day at 8am, but figured that 5 or 6 hours sleep would be enough. He came on an hour and 20 mins after the opening act left the stage. That made the crowd angry and we didn’t end up getting out of there until 2am. So 2.5 hours sleep. Big Egos make for shitty concert experiences.

  16. Derek McColl says:

Was excited to see this show and it all went to the crapper ….. very dissapointed and $300 out of pocket ….. this show was on the verge of being a riot and I had to leave to get my 13 year old daughter out of there and its a shame to say that I wish it was a riot as I would be getting a refund … as it stands from what I hear they hit the stage and supplied crappy product ….. and for that I get screwed out of a refund ….. Thanks Stone Temple Pilots …. Thanks alot …. cant wait for your next tour through Vancouver …. actually….. yes …. I can wait ….

They should have cancelled the concert @1000 pm if the band wouldn’t come off the bus. That way people would have gotten the refund they deserved.
As a courtesy to the audience someone from Abbotsford entertainment should have kept the audience informed.
I for one- for safety reasons felt we needed to leave ( after experiencing the dangerous outcome of the Guns & Roses cancelled show riots). The audience was left to make their own uninformed decisions or risk their personal safety.

Stone temple pilots are disgraceful – good luck to them reviving their pitiful careers!

  19. barry says:

saw em a few years ago in Ireland and Scott was on top form. Shame to read about this. I fear this is the death knell. I don’t think a band like STP go on stage 90mins late for a reason.
The drugs don’t work, or else in fighting……….

  20. barry says:

“for no reason” is what I meant to write

  21. WizeKraker says:

I was at the show. Very disappointed.

The wait? I don’t mind.. Hell I’m a GNR fan. but I expect it with them, so I can go get some beers and smoke a few N’ such before I know they have a chance of being on stage.

it was not only unusual for STP to come out so late. (3rd STP show, 1st bad review..) but buddy of mine heard one of them on the radio earlier in the day saying they would be out at 9:15. 11:00 rolls around and so do they. so it was a bit of a bummer just waiting in unknown. ah well they. they showed up.. sort of.

Scott sounded Terrible for how Awesome he can sound, and was clearly intoxicated slurring every word he attempted to speak inbetween songs.. songs which he missed big sections of lyrics and slurred out others.

The man just did not seem into the show, and neither did the crowd, which for the most part had become hostile at the band over the wait and less then steller show.

Pretty dissapointing night in that regard. Great night in others.

I’ve seen them Great and now I’ve seen them Shit.. will i go again?

    Fuck yes.

  22. Pete says:

Well I wont ever gamble my money on STP tickets ever again, as well as my 8-10 family and friends that hit rock concerts with me.

  24. matt says:

I was at the show and had a hell of a time. Sure the wait sucked but it just gave everyone more time to party. It was my 2nd time seeing them and I think they rocked it really well.

The crowd was really into it too. Everyone on the floor was moshing and singing a long. I’m shocked to see all the terrible reviews. I guess it was the wait that turned the most people off.

  25. Millz says:

The band needs to start playing exactly at the expected start time at every performance regardless if Scott is their or not. See if that gets his useless ass on stage on time.
