STONE TEMPLE PILOTS CLAIM TONIGHT’S SHOW CANCELLED DUE TO WEILAND’S VOCAL ISSUES

Published On September 18, 2012 | By Brett Buchanan | Stone Temple Pilots

Stone Temple Pilots have made a statement regarding the cancellation of their show tonight in Lethbridge on their Facebook.  No official word yet on why they showed up so late to last night’s show, but we have a report on what the band were up to just a few hours before the show (Scott and Dean were spotted playing paintball together). It’s very possible that Weiland’s vocal troubles were flaming up before the show last night, but it would have been nice to send a roadie out to let the fans know.

Tonights show cancelled – details below:

(LETHBRIDGE, AB) It was announced today that Stone Temple Pilots’ show tonight at the Emax Centre in Lethbridge, AB has been cancelled. STP lead singer, Scott Weiland has been put on 48 hours complete vocal rest due to strained vocal chords. The cancellation of Lethbridge will allow STP to finish the remaining dates of their Summer 2012 tour.

Refunds are available at point of purchase

Someone should look into whether Scotch and Cigarettes are bad for your voice.

    Just a hint.

  • SuperSG

    He should ask Cornell!

  • Brett Buchanan

Dr. Brett thinks the perfect diagnosis is for Scott to stop drinking/smoking and for the band to start writing their new album right after this run of shows ends.

on going to see them in thursday….I have to admit. I’m really nervous that they will cancel…or show up late….

  • Creep

*i’m going to see them on

  • Craigory52

So paintball wasn’t reason why they were late?

  • wbcn1041

I would say this is total BS and Scott is just having drug/alcohol problems but when I saw STP on this tour Scott’s voice did begin to fade at become weak the end of the show. I can believe that near the end of the tour his voice just needs a rest. Lets just hope 48hrs is enough.

  • BillyL

At this point, STP should go back on hiatus. Scott needs to move to the countryside, forget about Hollywood’s glitz and glam and all temptations that come with it; the dealers and the hangers-on, and just focus on actually living to see old age. “Get away from the life you’re living”, Scott once sang. Maybe he should listen to himself.

    See ya later, STP…hopefully.

Scott ruined his voice during the recordings and tourings of Libertad. He’s had months off at a time and still had to cancel shows due to his vocal problems in the middle of tours. This is the beginning of something that will be a problem for the rest of his career.

Sorry to be off topic here guys, but Brett, you are OBLIGATED to put up an Mp3 or vid/recording of Been Away Too Long once it legally hits airwaves tommorow!!! PLEEEASE????????? ITS ALL I HAVE TO LOOK FORWARD TOO DURING POSSIBLY THE WORST 2 WEEKS OF MY LIFE!!! IM BEGGING YOU BRETT!!!

  • Luke

oh by the way these guys(STP)are washed up they need to get their shit together or just call it quits already

  • SuperSG

    @Luke

Thats what Ive been doing with the ‘Rowing’ teaser! The wonderful aspect is that I cant get it stuck in my head, therefore it stays fresh and vibrant whenever Ive listened to it (112 times in 2 days…got just a little carried away… :)

Scott doesn’t need to move anywhere or become a recluse that’d be the worst thing possible (look how it worked out for Layne), his main problems over the last 4 years have been alcohol and pills. He needs to make the decision to kick that stuff out of his life for good, hopefully he does. He’s not on heroin and hasn’t been in a long time, that’s a misconception from fans.

Regarding STP, they need to get together and make a new album to follow up the self-titled one. The most inspired time of their reunion was spring 2010, you could tell they were genuinely excited to have a new album and were very proud of it. Once the tour eventually dragged on too long and cut out most of the new material, they began to give more dry shows.

    AND…R U GONNA???

  • Luke

lol Super SG i listened to the teaser once it was too much of a cock tease the first time i heard it i sat there watching the your tube bar almost reach the end waiting for matt to kick it up followed by kim ripping some crazy shit and ben just laying it down as usual!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • SuperSG

    Goodnight, for tommorow we are graced by SOUNDGARDEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;) ;)

  • BillyL

Brett, I couldn’t disagree more, and honestly, you’re quite wrong about a lifestyle change being the worst possible thing for him (and I never said he should become a recluse, so I’m not sure where you got that idea from). Any addiction counselor will tell you that in order to get sober (no matter what the drug of choice might be) you have to change your lifestyle as well as the company you keep which enables you or otherwise encourages you to use. There’s a reason why they have lockdown rehab facilities, you know. And why compare Layne’s reclusive lifestyle, which was brought on by heroin use, to the notion of Scott getting away from his obviously unhealthy lifestyle when you yourself just pointed out that Scott isn’t on heroin? The two situations are so polar opposite that they’re not even in the same ballpark.
It’s time for STP to take a break and for Scott to once and for all get sober or, and I’d bet money on this; there won’t an STP much longer.

Billy, Scott loves making music. He should take it easy from touring, but Scott’s totally sober periods (all of 2000 and 2004-2007) took place when he was very active musically, in 2000 STP were touring No. 4 and in 2004-2007 he was active with Velvet Revolver. It’s really up to Scott, it’s his life not ours.

Regarding STP, I’m a bit worried about them, but according to Scott last year he has to pay a shit load of child support each month and solo records/tours aren’t going to pay those bills.
