  1. Edward R. Murrow says:

Wow. More of a group effort than this band has had since they started. With an exception here or there, the best songs came from the rest of the band. Cornell solo songs mostly sound like they came from a solo record not an old SG disc.

  2. Mia says:

After seeing that Letterman concert I’m realizing that all of the King Animal songs sound way more awesome live. I think they overproduced it a bit. I haven’t heard the demos yet, so I’m hoping that they might sound more like how the songs sound live.

  3. The Dude says:

Just picked up my copy today. I purposely avoided listening to the stream until the album came out this week. It’s spectacular. I’m sure it’ll keep getting better as I listen to it more and more. Rowing reminds me of Louder Than Love.

  4. Bradley E says:

good album. A couple of weak songs. A couple of songs that the production is off just a bit. 8-9 very good songs.

  5. Pete says:

Excellent Album, and Shepherd impressed me with his songwriting. Taree and Rowing are incredible.

I also was expectign that the demo’s might be better than the studio version, but after a couple listens today I don’t think they hold up.

  6. Inmytree says:

This is the best new album to come out in a LONG time, at least for me. I enjoyed the new AIC and Pumpkins albums but not like this. God I missed Soundgarden.

  7. tino says:

AMAZINGINGLY , cornell did not do the music for the best songs on this album , wrote the lyrics , but not the music
great work by sheppard and thaiyl on music

  8. summers says:

The Thayil songs all sound good which is not surprising. Kim needs to write all the music from now on. And 1 track from Matt? I guess he shied away a lot since Riot Act.

  9. Dave says:

Blood on the Valley Floor is all Kim on the music. He’s a genius!!!

  10. TC says:

    Anyone heard these?:

    17. Bones of Birds [Demo]
    18. A Thousand Days Before [Demo]

  11. SG FOR LIFE says:

The demos I got from the Best Buy exclusive are AMAZING!!! Does anyone want some download links from me?

  12. Alex says:

I have to say I LOVE the album, they really surprised me for good and right now it’s totally addicted. After checking this credits I have to say that THAYIL really is the one to blame for their best songs of the record, which for me are:

    By Crooked Steps
    Lyrics: Cornell
    Music: Cameron/Thayil/Shepherd

    A Thousand Days Before
    Lyrics: Cornell
    Music: Thayil

    Blood on the Valley Floor
    Lyrics: Cornell
    Music: Thayil

    cheers!

    A.
