Billy Corgan has confirmed that Katie Cole and Sierra Swan are contributing vocals to the new Smashing Pumpkins album, as heard on lead single “CYR.” A former Smashing Pumpkins bassist has also recently stated that she wants to reunite with Corgan.

A fan told Corgan, “Also Katie Cole’s vocals are amazing on the new record!” Corgan responded, “With Sierra Swan yes!” Below are other Corgan Q&A highlights that Alternative Nation was able to screen capture.

Did you write CYR and Color by yourself?

“All songs on Vol 2 were written by that crazy guy.”

Is the new album all in the vein of CYR and TCOL or across the board stylistically?

“Honestly I find this question semi-amusing. It’s an SP album. Diverse approaches is what we do…Gish had Siva and Daydream, SD Disarm and Cherub Rock. Just enjoy the rollout :)”

How do you think your Gish era self would react to CYR?

“No offense, but that question is fairly ignorant as to our collective tastes. This isn’t a religion where if you don’t believe in the guitar on the cross you go to hell.”

The Smashing Pumpkins are set to release Shiny and Oh So Bright Volume 2 later this year, the second album that reunites Billy Corgan, James Iha, and Jimmy Chamberlin. The new Smashing Pumpkins song “CYR” has been pointed out for having Maynard James Keenan similarities.
