Late Linkin Park singer Chester Bennington’s brother-in-law John Knehr recently slammed Mike Shinoda on Twitter, and he is now clarifying that their issues have nothing to do with money or royalties. Knehr’s wife (and Chester’s sister) Tobi recently criticized Shinoda as ‘insincere,’ and later said she stood by her comments ‘100%.’ Chester’s mother Susan and ex-wife Samantha said they supported her statements. Knehr recently ripped Shinoda for doing ‘karaoke’ solo shows and said that Linkin Park should instead find a new singer who can honor Chester. He later said the issue with Shinoda was not about money or royalties. He has now responded to more Linkin Park fans, and followed up on his comments about Linkin Park finding a new singer.

A fan tweeted, “You are attacking Mike to get free publicity for your single. Shame on you!”

John responded, “Really!! That single has been out since January! I’m not attacking Mike!! I never said he wasn’t a good songwriter and a great PR guy! This has been about a personal conflict that others started on Twitter that my wife responded to!!!”

Another fan said at the end of a rant, “stink about this lately, the likes of which could probably be counted on one hand. Was it worth it, John & co.? Also, you’re just the in-law, so sit down and shut up. Tagging “everyone” so we’re all on the same page. @mikeshinoda @TalindaB @NiceGuyJohnE.”

John responded, “Let get something straight…… I Tag No one in any comments if I respond to anyone it’s only to them and has my initials after!!! So I don’t know what your talking about!!!!! Iv also said nothing derogatory, I’ve complemented him on every point except the Brothers crap!! NGJ.”

A fan said, “Look, your family lost a member. It sucks and in times of frustration, it’s easy to point a finger and angrily (& hastily) make demands. But at the end of the day, this is the music business. Don’t get me wrong, I wanted to meet Chester more than all of them, ever.”

John responded, “Again as your last post I’ve made no demands nor my Wife!!! Your now lying it started because I supposed my wife. Who can’t get her Twitter page up! So something is strange there?? Don’t know what your problem is but I’m not responding to lies!! NGJ.”

A fan said, “He’s grieving with his fans!! Post traumatic to tell them they aren’t alone!! You sound so ignorant! The FANS would never agree with Linkin Park 2.0 how could you even think that!!”

John responded, “If you go back to the first post on this statement your quoting wrong. We were all talk around the table and the conversation went to if they ever wanted to go on we agreed!!! Tired of of lies about something I’d said thens it’s twisted around and around…..! NGJ.”

Linkin Park bassist Dave “Phoenix” Farrell spoke about the band’s future during a new interview on SiriusXM’s Volume West. Asked what he has planned in terms of new music, nearly a year and a half since the death of singer Chester Bennington, Dave said, “It’s a big question. I think the easiest way to answer it is probably just to say I don’t know. And then I can expound upon that.”

He added, “The five of us, we still love getting a chance to hang out. We hang out quite a bit. I think we will do music again. We all want to. We all still enjoy being together and being around each other. But we have a huge process to figure out what we wanna do and what that’s gonna look like. And I don’t have a timetable for how long that’ll take. I’ve never been down that road [or gone through] that process completely, so it’s really hard to put a time or a day.”

Tobi Bennington has also posted a new picture on Instagram of Chester’s glasses.
