On a recent episode of the FOX television series The Resident, late Soundgarden frontman Chris Cornell and late Stone Temple Pilots singer Scott Weiland were discussed, with a character confusing them and not appearing to know they had died. Two characters talked about Cornell and Weiland while at a music festival.

The character Devon said, “God, I really wanted to see Scott Weiland live.”

The Conrad character responded, “Well, that’ll be tough since he’s dead.”

Devon responded, “You’re thinking of the guy from Soundgarden.”

Conrad responded, “No, that’s Chris Cornell. You’re thinking of the guy from Stone Temple Pilots, who is Scott Weiland.”

Devon responded, “They’re both dead?”

Scott Weiland died from a drug overdose in December 2015, while Chris Cornell died by suicide in May 2017. Weiland and Cornell were two of the biggest icons of the 90’s alternative rock era, and had survived their demons from the 90’s all the way into the 2010’s until tragically passing away.

The Chris Cornell ‘I Am The Highway’ tribute show will take place on January 16th in Los Angeles featuring Foo Fighters, Metallica, Ryan Adams, and the surviving members of Soundgarden, Audioslave, and Temple of the Dog. Jimmy Kimmel will serve as host of the show.
