The Chris Cornell statue that stands outside of Seattle’s MoPOP museum has been vandalized. Travis Hay tweeted, “Maybe the Chris Cornell statue will get relocated to an indoor location. Putting it next to the Andy Wood statue in a new, updated NW Passage exhibit that becomes a permanent fixture at MoPop would be cool. Whaddya say @TheeMcMurray?”

Chris Cornell’s mother-in-law Toni responded to the news, “ChrisCornell’s statue gets vandalized and the world cries again for their legend! Anger , sadness for this inhumane behavior! I personally blame those who were causing hate and encouragement on haters, who they blasted all over internet they wanted to vandalize it !

Those who let these haters follow them on IG and put likes on their pages ?I hold responsible! You can’t claim love brotherhood family depression suicide and encourage those haters at the same time. Disgusted by those hypocrites! They will be hold responsible if no where else ? In my heart and all those who love ChrisCornell. What a sad day for the world 🖤🖤🖤.”

Chris Cornell’s widow Vicky, children Lily, Chris, and Toni, united with surviving Soundgarden members Kim Thayil, Ben Shepherd, and Matt Cameron in 2018 for an unveiling ceremony for the statue, which depicts a 2010’s Soundgarden reunion era Cornell playing guitar. Soundgarden and Vicky Cornell are currently in litigation, with Soundgarden demanding a jury trial a few days ago.
