Kurt Cobain’s ex-wife Courtney Love has been an addict which is no secret. She had previously admitted that she had used heroin for the first time at sixteen when she was living in Taiwan and working as an exotic dancer. By the time she met Cobain, Love was drinking and abusing drugs heavily. According to the Nirvana frontman’s friends, it was her who introduced him to heroin. Love also recently made some emotional claims about Eddie Vedder.
Courtney Love states Dave Grohl was not an addict
As a part of the FT Financial Literacy and Inclusion Campaign, the musician shared her story of abusing drugs and went on to speak about a few musicians who did not suffer from drug addictions, though a lot of musicians and poets are afflicted with addiction. She said that Dave Grohl was among the ones who did not suffer from the addiction. Other stars who were included in that list were Lenny Kravitz, Bono and Chris Martin.
Here is what she said:
“It isn’t a big secret that I suffer from the disease of addiction – in particular, financial stress tends to make me go cuckoo-bananas if I’m triggered by it. A lot of musicians and poets are afflicted with addiction. There are ones that aren’t, and I’m going to name a few I know personally: Lenny Kravitz, Bono, Dave Grohl, Chris Martin. These are four dudes who are just not addicts. They’re able to hustle and handle their business. But they’re in the minority.”
Love’s addiction to drugs and alcohol would continue until 2018. In 2020, Love announced that she’d been sober 18 months, a first for the rocker, who had seen her infant daughter taken away by Social Services after it was alleged she had used heroin while pregnant. Love has intermittently toured and released music in recent years.
