Uproxx have up a new article about Dave Grohl detailing the Foo Fighters frontman and Nirvana drummer’s love of cooking BBQ, and it reveals how big of a role Grohl really does have now on the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame board. Grohl attended a mysterious committee vote in New York, and hopped a plane home to Los Angeles so he could BBQ at the Valley Urban Market.

This meeting took place shortly before the class of 2019 nominees were revealed, which includes Rage Against The Machine and Radiohead, but yet again snubbed Soundgarden, Alice In Chains, The Smashing Pumpkins, Stone Temple Pilots, and many others, so it appears Grohl had a say in who was nominated. Nirvana were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2014.

2014 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee and Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic discussed the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame class of 2019 vote in a series of new tweets. The Cure, Rage Against The Machine, and Radiohead are among the nominated bands.

Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic has tweeted, “Two ballots in my hand. One is November 6 election, other is 2018 @rockhall of fame. Plan on casting both-but latter has harder choices to consider!!!! @secstatewa #vote @voteathome.”

A fan named TC tweeted Novoselic, “You should rank the RnR Hall votes 1-5 and I definitely want to see what your choices are on that one.”

Novoselic responded, “Yes, would be better system to have single-transferable vote for the five slots to fill. This way I could rank all the way down the 15 choices. I think Dave Grohl is on the board of @rockhall. Will approach him. They should really consider this voting system.”

A fan named Neptune tweeted, “I know you’re voting for Devo!”

Novoselic responded, “I’ll ‘Use my freedom of choice.'”

Sam Regan tweeted, “Nirvana is great. @KristNovoselic is a genius. It’s not the Gin talking.”

Novoselic responded, “I know—it is so great to be a genius. I am also really humble. Nobody in this world has more humility than me. Nobody!!! And I never fool myself, or tell myself things I want to hear.”

November Bateman tweeted, “WHO ARE YOU VOTING FOR.”

Novoselic responded, “Secret ballot.”

Nirvana bassist Krist Novoselic wrote on Twitter and Facebook in 2017 about Pearl Jam’s Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony. He wrote, “Just watched Pearl Jam at Hall Of Fame. What an awesome time! Congratulations! I am proud to know you!!!”

He also tweeted, “Matt Cameron should be on the Rock Hall of Fame again. Soundgarden.”

Eddie Vedder said at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, “Matt Cameron’s really been the one. At a time when we didn’t know if – we weren’t sure what was going to happen – he had been able not just to survive, but to thrive.

I mean, he’s been one of my brothers. And he was going to end up receiving this happily with us or his other group. So he’ll be back. He’s a great drummer. You are a great drummer!”
