Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl recently teamed up with producer Greg Kurstin to celebrate the Jewish songwriting community on the third Hanukkah Sessions celebrations, at the Largo club in Los Angeles, California.

Dave Grohl and instrumentalist Greg Kurstin brought their “Hanukkah Sessions” series to the stage Monday (Dec. 5) when the two musicians led a surprise show with special guests at the 250-capacity Los Angeles club Largo.

Taking place earlier this month, on December 5, the event was hosted by director Judd Apatow, and featured an ensemble cast of high-profile musicians making guest appearances.

Foo Fighters noted took to Twitter and noted:

“Geddy Lee’s mom was so proud of her son that she put @rushtheband
posters up all over the family store & gave away albums to kids who didn’t have money. In tribute to that proud Jewish mom — free of charge—“The Spirit Of Radio” feat. @jackblack!”

Last year Grohl and Kurstin wrapped up the second annual of the show with a cover of a KISS classic. Kurstin and the Foo Fighters frontman spent the last eight days covering songs by Jewish artists – one for each day of the Festival Of Lights – and finished it with a rendition of the band’s 1975 hit ‘Rock And Roll All Nite’. Other covers the duo had performed as part of this last year’s Hanukkah Sessions included Billy Joel‘s ‘Big Shot’, Van Halen‘s ‘Jump’ and Barry Manilow‘s ‘Copacabana’. Grohl’s daughter, Violet, also made a guest appearance on vocals for a cover of Amy Winehouse‘s ‘Take The Box’.
