Return to Mt. Kennedy has posted on Instagram:

“The strange connection of Grunge and Mt. Kennedy. Photo of Eddie Vedder in the early 90’s wearing the vest that Robert Kennedy wore on the 1965 climb. Also pictured @mudhoney_ Mark Arm. @pearljam #rfk #bobbykennedy #eddievedder #pearljam #mudhoney #pnw #olympiccoast #style #grunge #mtkennedy.”

The new documentary Return to Mount Kennedy was premiered earlier this year, featuring original instrumental music from Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder. The film has had screenings but isn’t available digitally or on DVD, and the soundtrack featuring Vedder has yet to be release. The team behind the film are now reporting on Instagram that an official soundtrack release is now in the works with Sub Pop. The Return to Mount Kennedy team commented, “We’re working on a soundtrack with @subpop. Stay tuned!”

It seems a little late for a 2018 release to come to fruition, so 2019 seems far more likely. Pearl Jam are also rumored to release a new album in 2019.

The description of the film on their website is, “In 1965 Jim Whittaker led Senator Robert Kennedy to the first ascent of a remote mountain in the Yukon named after the late president, JFK. Fifty years later, the sons of the original climbing team—a raucous band manager, a candidate for governor, and a young mountaineer—embark on an expedition to the mountain to celebrate the special bond that connects them all. Featuring unreleased insturmentals by Eddie Vedder and never before seen footage and photos of Robert Kennedy, the feature-length documentary sits at the intersection of politics, human rights, environmentalism and adventure.”
