Faith No More frontman Mike Patton has canceled his National Anthem performance that he was scheduled to do for an NFL playoff game.

He wrote on Facebook, “Sorry football folks, i woke up feeling horrible. No anthem today for me!”

Patton is scheduled to perform at the ‘I Am The Highway: A Tribute To Chris Cornell’ show on Wednesday in Los Angeles.

Forbes had previously reported, “It is rare these days for television to take chances; even further remote when it’s live. But on Saturday, FOX Sports will do that as part of the NFC Divisional playoff game between the Los Angeles Rams and Dallas Cowboys (coverage starts at 8:45pm E.T. on FOX)

The move will not come during the game. The moment will happen during the national anthem. And, if you get a chance, you should watch.

If you haven’t heard of the name Mike Patton, well, I can’t blame you. He isn’t Justin Timberlake or Bruno Mars who are mainstays of commercial pop music. If I said have you heard of Faith No More, you might nod your head and remember the song Epic off 1990’s album The Real Thing. Still, it’s not as if Faith No More — or Patton for that matter — are front page news. FOX is doing something rare on the entertainment side and going against the grain.”
