Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has posted a naked photo of himself on Instagram where he is seemingly rubbing his penis on the window. He said he was doing it to celebrate ‘Green Day,’ which was St. Patrick’s Day.
Billie Joe Armstrong revealed if Green Day are planning an American Idiot followup due to their dislike of President Trump in a new Guitar World interview.
“No, I don’t think so. (Laughs) Right now, I think I’m more in escapism mode. I’m kind of keeping the news away from me a little bit. I need some sanity. And I think that’s what everybody is searching for right now. How can you find a deep inner peace when chaos seems to be brewing everywhere? That’s kind of where I’m at. I can’t wait to say “fuck you” to 2016 and see what, hopefully, there will be in 2017. Hopefully, I’ll be a bit more hopeful.”
He also discussed singing ‘No Trump, No KKK, No Fascist U.S.A.’ Armstrong said, “That was just reactionary, really. That was completely its own moment right there. It wasn’t a precursor to anything I’ve been working on, or anything like that. It was just, ‘How do we make a statement about the situation we have to a huge American audience?’ I just felt like we should say something.”
He added that he’s dialed down on reading news and social media, “Yeah, when you get fake news and fake outrage, you don’t know who to believe. So I’ve trimmed back on the things that I want to pay attention to. I want to lead with compassion a little bit more and see what I can come up with.”
He also discussed aging, “I’m 100 percent rock and roll. I don’t really worry about it. I don’t think about the passing of time as a number. I think about it more as, what part of my body is going to fall apart? And I realize, oh yeah, that’s what happens. Where am I going grey? What kind of growths do I have to get removed? How’s my back feeling? How are my knees? I look at it more like that. But the last thing I ever want to do is get pretentious about what I do. I’m still into spontaneity, as far as getting together and jamming with my friends and having a laugh. You have to be willing to get into some mischief if you’re playing rock and roll.”
