The KISS ‘End of the Road’ tour has been praised by many fans, but also ripped by the likes of Motley Crue, who have accused the band of ripping off their own farewell tour and of allegedly lip syncing. Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love’s daughter Frances Bean Cobain shared a photo from the KISS show in Los Angeles at the Forum over the weekend, and stated that she loved the show. She also thanked Gene Simmons’ son Nick for attending with her with a heart emoji.

“Thank you Nick Simmons for sharing this experience with me. What a fun night.”

In a new interview on RuPaul’s Podcast What’s the Tee?, Kurt Cobain and Courtney Love’s daughter Frances Bean Cobain reflected on her life and talked about her new music. Here, Frances reacts to comparisons to other celebrity children, namely Kim Kardashian. Alternative Nation transcribed her comments.

Michelle: There are a lot of celebrity kids out there, we got a lot. We have ones on the level of Lisa Marie Presley and Madonna’s kids but I was just sitting here listening to you talk; there is a different obsession with Kurt Cobain. Courtney as well, but Kurt was a God in the same way that Elvis was in many levels, I can imagine for Lisa…

Frances: Or like John Lennon.

Michelle: Or like, John Lennon but it’s a different time you see because your generation and you’re much younger than those kids is more obsessive. I can’t even imagine the energy thrown onto you from Kurt and Courtney’s fans.

Frances: I think there’s a desperate need for a lot of that fanbase to project onto me that I am the second female coming of Kurt. Like, that is a really big need that needs to be fulfilled and people are going to project whatever they want onto me but that doesn’t mean I have to abide by it at all.

Michelle: True, that’s so smart.

Frances: So if people need that outlet in order to look at my music and my art and go “it’s just like your dad,” that’s OK. If that’s the association they make, that’s a pretty damn good association, there are worse things to be called.

RuPaul: Sure.

Frances: The reality is though that the people who give my art, music or voice a chance, I think what keeps people interested is it’s not replicating somebody else’s thing. Like some people like to talk about “their brand”, right? My brand is authenticity. That is what I’m trying to provide in the service of this world because it’s so very lacking in the age of the Kardashian. And it’s fine, [Kim Kardashian and her family] fill that very specific role for a reason but everything is so saturated, filtered, conceived and what people are really thirsty for, I think, in an artistic way is being able to see people for who they are and all of the messy bits involved.

In a new interview on RuPaul’s Podcast What’s the Tee?, RuPaul asked Frances Bean Cobain about her spending habits and how she is with money. More specifically, the Cobain family fortune. Alternative Nation transcribed her comments.

RuPaul: How are you with money? Are you good with money?

Frances: Well I am now! I mean, I don’t really come from the best example of how to handle that. Nobody really ever sat me down and was like “this is how you handle lik-“

Michelle: Your grandparents didn’t?

Frances: No, because my grandmother never really had money. The only money she ever got was from my mom and so she never got such a large sum, and plus how can somebody that lives on a farm and comes from really simple stuff talk to a trust fund baby? What is she going to do? Be like “you should keep a checkbook”! Do I need to keep a checkbook? Yes, the answer is yes but at the time, thinking about that, being 15, 16 years old with somebody that has the means that I do. You can’t ration with that unless they want to be rationed with. I’d like to say that within the last two years I have taken real accountability for every single thing, talking to the people in charge of my money and having in-depth meetings as well as recognizing that you don’t have to live lavishly in order to live well. Like, it’s not necessary to have UberXX or whatever it is every single time you are going five minutes away. Get the Uber economy if you are going ten minutes away, it’s okay, it’s alright.
