Limp Bizkit guitarist Wes Borland revealed what Nine Inch Nails’ Josh Freese told him about working with Guns N’ Roses’ Axl Rose in a new Drinks With Johnny interview.
“He told me a story about Axl [Rose] coming in and breaking all the computers and freaking out [Freese worked wih Axl on GN’R’s ‘Chinese Democracy’].
“His Courtney Love stories are really good too, I’m not sure if I’m allowed to tell those or not. But man, those are great. You can imagine what it’s like working on a Courtney Love record.
“There’s one story I can tell, I’ll just tell part of it where Josh said to me, ‘Courtney came in, it was a Sunday, and she was not coming in the studio a lot, we were sort of spinner on wheels. But she came in and her personal assistant came to me…’
“Do you know the restaurant Sugarfish? Before Sugarfish was Sugarfish, it was called Nozawa, and there was just one of them, and it was on Ventura Boulevard in Studio City.
“e said the assistant comes in and goes, ‘Hey, look, Courtney’s feeling really good today. We’re putting in an order for Nozawa. Do you want anything from Nozawa?’ And it was a Sunday, and he goes, ‘No. 1, Nozawa doesn’t do take out. And No. 2, they’re not open on Sunday.’
“He said it was like watching her die inside when he told her that. He was like, ‘It was just amazing! I’ve never seen somebody just melt in front of me!’
