LISTEN TO STUDIO VERSION OF NIRVANA & PAUL MCCARTNEY’S NEW SONG “CUT ME SOME SLACK”

Here is the studio version of the new track “Cut Me Some Slack” from Paul McCartney and the surviving members of Nirvana. You can purchase it on iTunes.

I think the studio version of the track is even better than the live version. Just an awesome rocker, McCartney’s vocals are great especially for his age, it’s a throwback to some of the heavier Beatles song like “Helter Skelter.” Grohl, Novoselic, and Smear musically revive up the spirit of Nirvana here too. These three need to make an album with Paul and some other vocalists. Call it the Surviving Members of Nirvana, Nirvana, Grohl/Novoselic/Smear, whatever.

My face literally just melted off…thank you Grohl/boys

  • ShaneC

    I dig it. Alot.

I wish they did more than just one.

  • zabraski

Best thing I’ve heard all hear….I don’t care what you.wanna call it!…the song is amazing! Better than anything of the new soundgarden

  • zabraski

Of course I meant to say year!
Amazing song…best thing McCartney has done in decades

  • Brett Buchanan

People need to hear this studio version before judging it. Amazing, this Nirvana/McCartney thing is one of my favorite things to happen in music this year.

  • Robert

I love it. I hope they do an album together. It would be the best collaboration ever in history.

  • Raj

It’s pretty cool, I am impressed Paul can still belt out rockers like these. They do need a name and an entire album would be cool.

  • Ben

I would love them to collaborate for a whole album worth of material but I doubt it will happen…

    Totally agreed!
Imagine how much butthurt and teared apart asses of schoolkids there will be :D

  • YUMM

    haha this is awesome

  • Kirill

    love it

  • unglued

That Bass always heavy and groovy!!!!!!!!
    Mr.Novoselic ROCKS!!!!

Nirvana and the Beatles are my favorite.

  • Jonny

Ye pretty into this. Wasn’t the biggest fan live, but this is pretty cool. But its almost identical to Love Spreads by The Stone Roses. Still good though

  • buffalo

decay of paul McCartney performing with a band of shit like nirvana! paul really is getting old and needs a vacation… FACT

  • pa

It’s aight. Nothing to go crazy over

  • Blind Lemon

I don’t want them to have the name Nirvana cuz theres nothing Nirvana about it….but it sounds cool!

  • Abe Froman

Blind Lemon, I think they will come up with a different name(if they do an album and / or tour) because it’s a different project. Why did Perry Farrel form Porno for Pyros instead of just re-using the name Jane’s Addiction? Them Crooked Vultures could have been QOTSA w/ John Paul Jones, but that would have done the album /music an injustice, it’s an animal in and of itself.

I don’t think you have to worry about them using the name Nirvana for another HUGE reason. Cobain’s estate (translation: Courtney Love) will always get royalties from the use of the name.I don’t see Dave or Krist performing or recording under the name, because she will be involved in it.

It’s the media & blogs (i.e. grungereport) overusing the name, not the band themselves.(I’ll be a little surprised if sites don’t start getting Cease & Desist notices about the use of ‘Nirvana’ – sounds extreme I know, but it is Courtney Love here)

    Time will tell I suppose.

I think Grohl & Novoselic will do more together, at least I hope they do, and I would put money down it will be under any other name than Nirvana.

  • Christopholese

I’m not sold on the track at all. Think it’s completely lame.

  • Casper

I agree with those that it sounds nothing like Nirvana (I’m not referring to the vox, I mean all of it), but it’s DAMN GOOD. I’m into it. Paul uses his rock voice and sounds pretty fuckin’ awesome.

  • missingjohn

this song needs work. a discernible chorus would be a good place to start. just jamming a mediocre riff for 5 minutes doesn’t qualify as finished work.
big names don’t make a song good. craft and work does.

come on. we’re talking about paul mccartney. he and lennon set the bar themselves. and really only cobain has approached it since then.

they didn’t set very high goals for themselves when they put this thing together.

  • RödeOrm

I like this but it is a bit too slow for a nirvana song sounds more like a soundgarden song, and the lyrics are pretty lame, yes i know kurt’s lyrics were not the most meaningful either but they were interesting…
Anyway I am glad it happened.

  • Scott McLean

I always like Paul McCartney from when I was a kid but this isn’t anything like Nirvana with Kurt Cobain. I think that’s obvious and what they are doing here is alright though neither raw nor all that original sounding, though it’s a new song and makes sense based on what the other famous grunge bands are doing now. Pearl Jam “The Fixer” and Soundgarden “Been Away Too Long” are closer to rock ‘n’ roll first — though BATL is very heavy, nice rock ‘n’ roll-grunge, and that’s okay, but I’m hoping for more bands’ output along the lines of rough, raw, and somewhat rowdy GRUNGE.

  • Scott McLean

Also I’ve noticed, without any problem of noticing it that is, that many artists are combining forces and talents to make super-group type comebacks and I’d say it’s partly to make more money and partly to make more money, and then partly… gee it’s Sunday so I can’t think.

  • gamermwm

It’s amazing and not anything like Nirvana, Wings, or the Beatles. It’s just DIFFERENT but in a good way. You really can’t call it grunge, it’s just a real good jam between 4 amazing musicians

I DO want to hear Krist’s bass shine a bit more such as in the recent track “I Should Have Known” from the last Foo album. Sounds pretty sick and heavy when they feature it – and that is in my opinion THE Nirvana sound aside from Kurt’s voice

Dave’s drumming is sick and the only part about the live performance that was better than the studio version. The way he was playing his drums at the relief concert harkened back to seeing Aneurysm played live long ago

  • Pete

The Beatles and Nirvana form a supergroup, put out a new song, and there are people on this page that are dissing it. If you can believe that.

  • Ef

I think Dave has in the works more of the Grohl/Novoselic/Smear. Remember in April 2014 Nirvana will be inducteed in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, and possibly the same year a Nirvana/Kurt Cobain biopic. Maybe another boxset of the last Kurt Cobain Demos, with the Nevermind Outtake Song in D. I bet we will see more of these 3 guys in the near future.

  • sgtool

When I see tpeople use words like lame it tells you they are trolling. An opinion is one thing but those who go out of their way to be insultingly negative for no reason want nothing but attention. Its a solid song. I’d like to see/hear more.

  • SuperSG

    Greatness.

  • Josh

This song is absolute garbage. Just terrible.

  • Iso

“When I see people use words like lame it tells you they are trolling. An opinion is one thing but those who go out of their way to be insultingly negative for no reason want nothing but attention.”

I agree wholeheartedly. And that goes for you ‘zabraski’ with this:
“Better than anything off the new soundgarden”.

Fuck that, and you. I very much like the results of this Paul McCartney & surviving members of Nirvana song. I think they did a real solid job together.
But to throw in as a final fart of an insult like, “this is better than anything off the new Soundgarden” is wrong. Dumb. Completely ignorant. It lets us know you haven’t really listened to “King Animal”, you never really wanted to, likely are a casual fan only, if that. Fuck you. Yeah, you’re entitled to your opinion. But you see the difference here? = “I love this album.” “I think this album sucks.” You see that? It’s not the same thing dick.

  • Grungy

Nothing special but nice to see the McNirvana team making music. 4 out of 10

  • GenXLady

Agreed. ^^^^^. Either troll posters or 14 year old posters. ;-)

  • GenXLady

Agreeing with Iso in earlier post, not Grungy.

  • whisky

Fuck yeah. Pauley unleashing the rock voice, like he used to… All the fuckwads bitching about this need to STFU. Whining about how it’s not grunge, blah-blah-blah… Who the hell said it was? News flash – “grunge” isn’t the only good music, dipshits. The spirit of rock and roll was alive and well before Nirvana, and it will carry on in the future, despite your refusal to acknowledge anything that didn’t come out of Seattle in the early 90’s. Fuck you and your arrested development, bitches.

  • steiner1975

    Kurt who??????

This is SIR Paul F-in McCartney!Beatles were the best group ever…..and just having that voice with this backing group is just simply amazing. He sounds like 1964…..but with an edge. Keep rocking Paul…..who cares if you are 70…..you sure don’t sound it!

What’s worse than a troll. Is those who say they know what’s better based on what?
If someone thinks it shit then to them it is. Trying to stop others from saying what they want will not work.

This is just a one time thing. The song is a rehash of past Foo Nirvana and yes Wings material. The vocals are just barely in tune and sounds old and tired.

  • Outshined

Its not Nirvana without Kurt Cobain. Its like having the Beatles making music without John Lennon.

  • whisky

Agh! Fuck! You people don’t get to decide what is or what is not Nirvana! I don’t know what makes you think you have the right to critique this, but fuck off, you semen-soaked vag-rags! If Dave and Krist and Pat want to play with Paul – under any name they please, Nirvana or otherwise – that’s their business. Just enjoy it and quit bitching, FFS…

  • MJM

    This year?

This is the greatest thing to happen to music in at least a decade.

    It’s that good.

People need to get off their high horses. Even The Doors went on a tour together with guest singers after Jim died. Personally? I think (and this comes with no backing whatsoever) that Kurt would be happy that his bandmates are playing with one of his idols and not…Axl Rose or some choice used for a “quick buck”.

“It’s not Nirvana without Kurt” Christ, we get a combination of two of the greatest bands of all time and people still bitch. Would you prefer it to be the surviving members of Nirvana and Courtney Love?

Get over yourselves. This was for fun, the tour (if there is one) will be fun and the same can be said for a potential CD or whatever else this combination puts out.

I think none of this is being done to “spit on Nirvana’s legacy”. Anyone who honestly thinks that = misinformed at best. It’s for the music, the enjoyment of it & most importantly for the fans. All of you should be happy that this is going on and not acting like a bunch of whiny, emo twats.

  • SuperSG

    The Big 4 are back

  • Unglued

Whatever… they are still nirvana. The song have the rythmn of nirvana songs. Especially that bass. Kurt is important but theystill make the sounds like nirvana.
