Former Screaming Trees and Queens of the Stone Age singer Mark Lanegan recently reached out to Smashing Pumpkins touring bassist Jack Bates after Bates complimented his album Gargoyle.

Bates had said, “Late night drive back from London blasting @marklanegan Gargoyle, love this record.”

Lanegan told him, “Drive safely brother Jack.”

The new Smashing Pumpkins lineup of singer/guitarist Billy Corgan, guitarist James Iha, drummer Jimmy Chamberlin, guitarist Jeff Schroeder, and touring bassist Jack Bates have been lavishing praise on each other on social media.

Billy Corgan is working on overdubs for his new solo album in Nashville, and revealed he is using a ‘wonderful’ amp his good friend James Iha gave him.

“Overdubs today using this wonderful, vintage Gibson amp that @jamesihaofficial gave me as a bday present years and years ago.”

He’s also been playing a bass in studio from Cheap Trick’s Tom Petersson.

“In studio playing this amazin’ Hofner bass leant by @cheaptricktom! With the original strings still on it from 1965.”

Billy Corgan also recently posted a graphic telling fans to check out his Spotify playlist. It says, “Hey You! Subscribe to my Spotify Playlist ‘WPC’s Music Machines.'” Corgan’s pal Jimmy Chamberlin wrote on Instagram, “You heard the man. Now get with it!”
