A troll named RepresentativeSilver recently posted the following on Tool’s Reddit, and Maynard James Keenan’s reaction is priceless:

There’s no way I can prove this, as I’ve built a name and career for myself that I’m absolutely not willing to risk. You’ll have to take my word for it.

The new Tool album will be out in May of this year. The vocals are finished, and the band is very far ahead of schedule. It’s obvious that doing new APC music has motivated Maynard, as the whole vocal process took less than two weeks.

There will be 13 songs, a few of which are under ten minutes, but the majority are LONG…If you thought the packaging for 10,000 Days was over the top, you are in for a treat. That’s all I’ll say.

The song that we know as Ascending is on there, but it’s paired with two other songs and is definitely the least interesting of the trio (although it’s still great–think Parabol/a). It’s followed by a song called Descending, and a third called Innocence.

The first single will be the title track–it will be out at the end of April.

The Reddit thread got well over 150 comments before the member deleted their account due to ‘harassment’ after many pointed out that they were full of shit and had no proof.

Keenan responded to a screenshot of the post on Twitter, calling it ‘horseshit.”

He also made a tweet stating that only a new A Perfect Circle album is imminent after a fan tweeted him assuming new Tool is coming soon as well.

A fan then tweeted Keenan, “When @mjkeenan says new tool and APC coming out. Life just got better fucking pumped for more intense jams..❤❤❤❤❤.”

Maynard responded, “But Only said new APC.”

Tool guitarist Adam Jones offered quite possibly the biggest update on Tool’s new album in the nearly 12 years since the release of 10,000 Days last week. He revealed that the music for the album is done, and that Maynard James Keenan is ‘coming in hard’ with lyrics.

Drummer Danny Carey told Overdrive in a recent interview that Tool’s new album would be out by May, though he admitted it may be wishful thinking.

“It’s all coming together really well. We’ll be hitting the studio again very soon and have a couple of gigs in May [Coachella Festival], so hopefully, we’ll have the album out before that. It’s wishful thinking at this point. I actually think I said that this time last year. [Laughs]
