The Red Hot Chili Peppers and Dinosaur Jr. are set to perform on Sunday April 14th and Sunday April 21st at Coachella.  Puscifer will perform on Saturday April 13th and Saturday April 20th, while Trent Reznor’s How To Destroy Angels will perform on Friday April 12th and Friday April 19th.

Overall pretty weak lineup, but with some good acts mixed in on the undercard.  Usually I’m not into most Coachella headliners, but I at least get their commercial appeal.  Here, the Red Hot Chili Peppers are the only real headliner, but with the band already having performed two shows in Los Angeles last year makes them less of a get as a headliner.  While the Stone Roses and Blur are good bands, they are more subheadliner material.  I’m not a fan of Phoenix and they couldn’t headline a Los Angeles KROQ festival let alone Coachella.

The only time I went to Coachella was in 2009 to see Paul McCartney, which was unbelievable.

Blur and The Stone Roses sub-headline material? You crazy Americans!!!

  • Pingfah

Wow, Lou Reed, Modest Mouse, Stone Roses & Blur all virtually in a row. Frackin amazing lineup!!

Stone Roses should be headlining though. Much better than Blur.

Believe me, Blur put on a great Headlining show. I saw them at Hyde Park this year for the Olympic closing ceremony celebrations. They were phenomenal. They definitely hold a candle to RHCP from when I saw them a few months prior at Knebworth. Great, great live act. They have some proper festival tunes

  • Jackyjackjack

    Last year* obviously haha

Blur are a decent band, but I really hated that whole Parklife era. Apples & Pears, Apples & Pears. Fuck off Damon!

They do have a lot of really good tracks though, no dispute there, but I find their albums too inconsistent to be a big fan.

Stone Roses, I love everything they have done, although granted, it doesn’t amount to a great deal of music…

I’ll be there to fap about Reznor’s wife

  • Alec

Oh god. The hipsters are gonna have a field day with RHCP playing coahcella this year, let their superficial trolling begin.

Blur has always been an entertaining live act. One of my favorites live, actually, though I haven’t seen them in quite some time. I haven’t seen the Roses since ’95 though, and would love to see them again.

    @ versus

I am seeing the Stone Roses in June in the UK!

  • backdoorman

I was seeing the Stone Roses on 1995 at Madrid (Spain).

One friend of Eddie Vedder was there too: Javier Bardem. As always (Ac Dc, Pearl Jam)…O fuck¡

My girlfriend (my wife today) gave me the first album on 1989.

After the music grunge and the alternative music entered in my life…Thanks 90’MTV

Nick Cave/Grinderman is the best part

    Ah…recommend Biffy Clyro to californian.

Biffy Clyro = scotish post rock + Nirvana + Foo Figthers + Weezer

  • jjc19461

    Tame Impala are great.

  • the grinch

i hope this is not a tale of what festival season is to look like….. not a very strong line up except for a hand full of acts.

  • Calvin McLain

Yeah, that’s a pretty weak lineup for Coachella. Of course after 2007’s everything has seemed pretty weak…April 29th, 2007 – BEST SHOW OF MY LIFE!

Ah! Day 1 alone blows my mind. Blur, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Modest Mouse, Lou Fucking Reed,Beach House & Passion Pit & Jurassic 5 (loved them at SXSW back in the day) But then there’s Spiritualized, Kurt Vile, Grizzly Bear, Puscifer, Dinosaur Jr. and the great Father John Misty. Fuck that’s awesome.

  • Wam Meesly

Looks like I’ll be missing this one. I’d go for HTDA if maybe Puscifer was the same day. This is contingent upon the forthcoming HTDA album being amazing, wasn’t too happy with The Omen EP. I’d like to see New Order as well, but considering the quality of the show, price of ticket, and lack of consistent lineup, I have to skip.

A fucking shame to see Vampire Weekend billed over Wu-Tang Clan and Social Distortion.

Crapire Weekend couldn’t order those bands’ drinks for them.
