George Clinton, who produced the legendary Red Hot Chili Peppers album Freaky Styley, reunited with the band for a performance of “Give it Away” in Sydney, Australia on Wednesday.

A video recently surfaced of George Clinton singing Red Hot Chili Peppers’ “Give It Away” in the studio. Flea appears to be seen off camera, as an orange jacket that he has frequently been wearing recently is visible.

Exclaim reported in November that Clinton was rumored to work with the Chili Peppers again in the studio.

Back in 1985, Red Hot Chili Peppers worked with Parliament-Funkadelic legend George Clinton on Freaky Styley, an album we called “the purest expression of the Chili Peppers’ early funk period.” Now, it appears that RHCP are eyeing another collaboration with Clinton. This news comes from Clinton himself, who spilled the beans during an Ask Me Anything session on Reddit. In response to a query about collaborations, he wrote:

‘I’ll probably work again with the Red Hot Chili Peppers. I’ve been talking to Flea a lot. We’ll definitely do something again, either us with them or them with us.’

Red Hot Chili Peppers recently began work on their next album. Given that they parted ways with longtime producer Rick Rubin on 2016’s The Getaway (which was produced by Danger Mouse), perhaps the door is open for them to explore another collaboration with Clinton?
