In other Slipknot news, a fan over on the Slipknot subreddit revealed that he had first listened to the band’s iconic album Duality for the first time recently and gave his thoughts on the Slipknot classic stating: “I’m a 33-year-old lawyer, so maybe a lame dude but I have an open mind when it comes to music. I’m a huge fan of a wide range of stuff. Love Elvis, DMB, John Mayer, Nirvana. But I just assumed Slipknot was angsty screamer kid shit trash. But holy fuck I had no idea how talented Corey Taylor and the rest of the band are. I started with Snuff from an acoustic set, proceeded to some Sublmimal songs, fell in love with Duality, and then discovered Stone Sour which I think is the most amazing of his work. What should I listen to next to keep sucking me in??!”

To which fans gave their responses:

k1l2327 stated: “Duality is the perfect place to start. All of Slipknot’s albums have very different vibes to them, so not a lot of their stuff sounds like Duality, but all are to the same quality. Here’s a list of songs to listen to from here. Before I Forget (from the same album, if you like Duality you’ll love this) Unsainted, Devil in I, Nero Forte, Psychosocial, and Sulfur. If you enjoy those, I’d recommend moving on to full albums. We Are Not Your Kind and The Subliminal Verses are probably there two best to listen to all the way through as a beginner fan. Very melodic, but also gives you a taste of their older, heavier stuff. Regardless, there are very quality albums.”

And Chainsaw443 replied: Vermilion pt. 2 is the crown centerpiece of Slipknot’s melodic sound for me. But if you can stomach Duality, slowly over time, you will find you like the heavier stuff and before you know it you’ll be in love with the first 2 records like the rest of us. I assume you are intelligent if you have a law degree and with that said if the screaming doesn’t pull you in Corey’s insanely gifted craftsmanship with words will. Plus, their pop sensibilities established on every album is enough to make Ann Coulter a fan if you just give them a chance and open your mind.” A Slipknot member unloaded in a new backstage slapping video.
