Cranberries singer Dolores O’Riordan died today at the age of 46, and two singers from seminal 90’s bands are now paying tribute.

Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan wrote on Instagram, “Too many, too soon. RIP Dolores xxxx.” Corgan has sadly become part of a shrinking class of surviving big name 90’s alternative rock singers.

Stone Temple Pilots singer Jeff Gutt wrote on Instagram, “Rest In Peace Dolores O’Riordan. I’ve heard people all over the world singing her songs with crowds enthusiastically singing back. Truly a special musician and songwriter. #cranberries #legend.”

The Cranberries posted on social media, “Irish and international singer Dolores O’Riordan has died suddenly in London today. She was 46 years old. The lead singer with the Irish band The Cranberries, was in London for a short recording session. No further details are available at this time.

Family members are devastated to hear the breaking news and have requested privacy at this very difficult time.”

Too many, too soon. RIP Dolores xxxx
