Aerosmith frontman Steven Tyler‘s daughter, the incomparable Mia Tyler took to social media via Instagram to remind her followers about the importance of National Suicide Prevention Week which was recently. She then took it upon herself to share a story in which she overcame postpartum depression and was able to, in her words, “take her life back”. You can view this somber story below. “It’s NATIONAL SUICIDE PREVENTION WEEK and I want to share this in hopes it helps anyone suffering and anyone who could help save a life. When I had postpartum it was pretty mellow compared to some of the stories I’ve heard about. But that doesn’t mean it didn’t suck as much. I had been left a single mom, was 3000 miles away from my friends and family and had only my brand new Son and overthinking to be with. I wanted to die. I didn’t know why, but I kept thinking I didn’t deserve this life and my Son. I found myself in the ER with extremely high blood pressure, exhaustion and dehydration. My Sons paternal grandma came to help me take care of Ax.
After two days there, I got out and decided to take my life back. I had postpartum for maybe a month or two, so that’s why I say it was mellow. But it was real. It was real scary. And I don’t know what I would have done without the help of my amazing doctor who helped me. Asking for help is probably the hardest thing I’ve ever done. And I know more people would have helped had they known what I was going through. And sometimes that’s all we really want is someone to understand us. My cousin Matt took his own life a few years back and I know things would have been different had anyone seen the signs. So let’s educate ourselves on mental health and try and make a change in this world.”
Steven Tyler ‘won’t leave alone’ this flight attendant in a newly uncovered photo. Tyler’s followers responded on Instagram. Bartzkendra replied: “Highest risk, but certainly not the only time it can happen. Motherhood in those first years is truly the most exhausting time of my life. It’s not easy, to say the least. We all need to remember to reach out and be there for our fellow moms, especially in those first years.”
