A fan who witnessed Marilyn Manson’s accident at his show on Saturday in the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York wrote the following on Marilyn Manson Cult on Facebook. Note that these are accounts from fans, and there isn’t any close up video to confirm how Marilyn’s girlfriend reacted. The second story is from Brian Richards:
“He was putting on a good show. He didn’t seem drunk or anything of that sort nor did his behavior with the prop appear reckless. One would assume it was firmly in place. From my view point in the front row it didn’t look like he put that much weight on it when it started tipping. He tried to brace himself and push it back but it completely tipped and fell on him. Two or three of his crew members rushed to get it off of him quickly. It seemed like he’d get back up but when he didn’t after 30 seconds or so a few more crew. The crew members (no emt were on stage yet) tried to move him but several people from the audience, including myself yelled not to bc depending on the severity it could worsen the injury.
Around this time his girlfriend (she’d been watching from a chair on the side of the stage) rushed over to him. His girlfriend rushed off to the stage within moments with her hand over her mouth & clearly panicked. That’s when I person realized something was seriously wrong & started to dial 911. But the security guard near me said they had paramedics on sight. It was another minute or two before actual medics started to get on stage. They dimmed the lights when the medics came out and a while later they had guys hold up
A curtain so we couldn’t see anything. They took him out on a stretcher behind the curtain. This was about 15 to 20 minutes after the incident happened. They then turned the lights back on and had a representative of the venue come out on stage and announce the concert would not commence.
This was honestly one of the most traumatic things I’ve witnessed. The girl next to me, who I didn’t know prior to tonight, took my hand and was holding it & squeezing it for comfort and other girls were crying. It was really scary. I hope he’s ok.”
Another fan said, “All I can picture in my head is how slow the prop came down on him. I remember thinking to myself why the fuck is he doing this and why the fuck is he not rolling out of the way?? Also what is burned into my brain is when Lindsay came dashing out to check on him. He was super angry and told her to go away. She put her hands over her face and look horrified. Not sure what that means but I saw the emotion and fear spewing out of her. We really need an official update on his status soon. I’ve seen him get hurt many times but this one just has a completely different feel about it. I hope all is well with him . Although I’m saddened that that show was cut early and the Boston show is postponed I am more concerned about his health.”
