Maynard James Keenan’s voice went out during a song at Tool’s show in Friday at St. Paul, but the band managed to return to the stage. Read fan accounts below from Reddit.

One fan wrote, “They shorted a song, hope Maynard is ok. MJK’s voice went out during 46&2, and I was surprised they came back after intermission. Seems like the old men had enough after 3 nights back to back LOL. Got to see them in Chicago and St. Paul so I’m not complaining. Great shows!!!”

Another wrote, “Last night did seem really off. Maynard wasn’t 100% on point, but he wasn’t bad either. I feel like something happened during intermission. They didn’t seem the same afterwards. And they shorted one song off of the list (The Pot, Vicarious, or Eulogy). Also, Descending was way short and Danny didn’t start drumming until several minutes into the drum solo jam. I hope everything is OK with them, but they just didn’t seem happy last night.”

Someone else said, “This is the third night back to back they have played and the only time this tour they were scheduled like this. While I’m bummed they didnt play The pot again, Vicarious, or even Eulogy (the most far fetched), I’m willing to bet Maynard was feeling a bit tired tonight so they dropped a song.”

Another fan said, “For the first time seeing them and being a fan for 7 plus years.. Wow. They sound studio quality, from watching tool archives videos, maynard’s voice sounded so much better in person, at times I was baffled. Albeit there’s no screaming, he used so little of the megaphone and really got into it, especially during opiate. Intrusmentation was awesome, simply amazing. Please, if you think that audibly they don’t sound great, don’t be deterred, these guys sound spot on.”
