Tool and A Perfect Circle frontman Maynard James Keenan discussed dealing with a terrible case of the flu recently in a new interview with Matt Pinfield.

“I have been doing jiu-jitsu a lot more lately, but I got that flu man, whatever that thing, that flu that went around with everybody. Oh my god, five weeks I was down, so I haven’t been able to train for five weeks. Every time you think it’s gone, I had a friend call it the boomerang, because right when you think you’re fine, it comes right back.”

Pinfield then asked if he went to the hospital.

Keenan responded, “No, I just ended up trying to gut it out, because you want to get through it without antibiotics, but eventually I had to break down and take some antibiotics and that cleared it up. But man, five weeks of various stages of it, not like, okay I’m done, a week I’m in, good, take care of myself free and clear, three days later, a flight later, strangers and odd surfaces later, coughing babies on a plane later, all of a sudden it’s back in a different way. Oh my god, I’m waiting for the one that invades my feet, because it’s pretty much invaded every other part of my body.”
