Alice In Chains singer/guitarist Jerry Cantrell will release his 2002 solo album Degradation Trip Volumes 1 & 2 on vinyl for the first time ever on February 15th in North American, and it will be limited to 2,000 numbered copies. It will be a four-LP set pressed on black, red, and yellow 180-gram vinyl.
Cantrell first toured Degradation Trip in 2001 before it was officially released, selling early copies at shows, and later releasing the one disc version of the album in summer 2002, followed by a double album version in November. The Degradation Trip shows in 2001-2002 were Cantrell’s first with future Alice In Chains singer William DuVall.
Alice In Chains singer/guitarist Jerry Cantrell was asked if he wants to make another solo album in a 2017 interview with Eddie Trunk, following up his 1998 album Boggy Depot and 2002 album Degradation Trip.
“Yeah, probably. Down the road I wouldn’t rule it out. Alice has always been my number one concern since I started the band with the guys. That’s kind of where my heart has always been, one band is plenty (laughs). One band is plenty of attention, this is where my heart has always been. Still happy to be here working with the guys, moving forward, making music.”
Trunk mentioned some guys being in as many as five bands at the same time these days.
“I just don’t have the energy for that, hats off to all those guys (laughs). I think I’m a little too lazy. One band’s enough for me, I’m good.”
Jerry Cantrell was recently reported to have been undergoing back surgery, with Alice In Chains set to return to the road in March.
