Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash discussed playing Chinese Democracy material in a new Rolling Stone interview. While fans have speculated that they think he probably hates playing it since he didn’t record it, he actually likes it!

Did you really think that Coachella could’ve been it for the Guns reunion?

“Originally, it was just to do those first couple of shows, and that was a gas. I missed being on a stage with Axl and Duff [McKagan]. I missed that combination. It whet the appetite to do more.”

I really enjoy seeing you play the Chinese Democracy tracks. What’s that like for you?

“Um, I mean, it’s fun playing them. There’s nothing weird about it. It’s not like I’m playing something out of my comfort zone. I’m very conscious of maintaining the integrity of the recording, but still doing it the way that I would approach it.”

Slash’s 15-year old son London Hudson and his Classless Act bandmate Nico Tsangaris were recently interviewed on the Appetite For Distortion podcast, and London was asked about Chinese Democracy.

“I never really listened to it until I first heard it live, like ‘Chinese Democracy,’ then I looked up the song. I really didn’t know what the album was for a long time.”

He added, “I mean, you see everyone wearing Appetite and Use Your Illusion shirts, not Chinese Democracy.”

Nico chimed in, “Poor Axl.”

London also said, “You go to a Guns N’ Roses show now, you still won’t see people wearing Chinese Democracy shirts.”
