Linkin Park singer/guitarist Mike Shinoda recently did an Instagram live video to discuss the release of the band’s One More Light Live album. Shinoda responded to fans asking about the possibility of a Chester Bennington hologram performing with the band. Alternative Nation transcribed Bennington’s comments.

“Can we not do a holographic Chester? I can’t even wrap my head around the idea of a holographic Chester. I’ve actually heard other people outside the band suggest that, and there’s absolutely no way. I cannot fuck with that.”

He later said, “I can’t do a hologram Chester you guys, that would be the worst. For any of you guys who have lost a loved one, best friend, family member, can you imagine having a hologram of them? Awful. I can’t do it. I don’t know what we’re going to do, but we’ll figure it out eventually.”

A Ronnie James Dio hologram is currently on a world tour with his surviving bandmates. Dio’s widow Wendy discussed her husband’s hologram in an April 2017 Alternative Nation interview.

“I see it as a new form of technology. Ronnie was an innovator of music so why not technology? In fact we tried to make a hologram in 1986. Ronnie was very into holograms if any of you remember that 1986 show where Ronnie’s head was inside a crystal ball and he speaks. I think the hologram is great for those who never got to see Ronnie on stage.”
