Autopsy: The Last Hours of Scott Weiland airs on Reelz Channel tonight, and a police detective who found the legendary Stone Temple Pilots singer dead offered new insight into underlying medical conditions that may have contributed to his drug overdose death in December 2015 on his tour bus in Minnesota.

Detective Jerry Robertson said, “I realized immediately he was cold to the touch. Rigor mortis has set in. I also noticed lividity, which is pooling of the blood to the lowest part of the body. It seemed like he had died in his sleep.”

“There were two baggies of a white powdery substance in his nightstand. They were not sealed. I was basically told it was sex, drugs, and rock and roll when they were on tour.”

“We found cocaine and the street drug known as MDMA.”

“When I arrived on scene, I looked at the body, and was looking for any sign of trauma on the body.”

“There was a little frothing in his mouth. I didn’t know what that was from.” An examiner said Pulmonary edema could have played a role in Scott’s death based on the frothing, as well as anoxia, which starves oxygen to the brain.

A medical examiner on the show, though not the one who examined Scott’s body, said, “I believe Scott died as a result of anoxia, because an already weakened heart could not keep up with the demands made by a final bout of drinking and drug taking.”
