Stone Temple Pilots bassist Robert DeLeo, Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash, and Def Leppard guitarist Phil Collen are recording a cover of a Jimi Hendrix classic.

DeLeo wrote on Instagram, “Greetings everyone. It has been quite some time since I have posted. I hope you all have been well. It was a very memorable day to post again. I spent the day with Slash, Phil Collen and Forrest Robinson recording and filming our version of Fire by Jimi Hendrix for The Los Angeles Zoo’s Beastly Ball at Gold Diggers Studio.

This was also a very emotional day for me with my friends @golddiggersla . This is now where my beloved 1974 Neve 8014 console resides. Lots of great music and memories have passed through this board and I know it has gone to a great home. All around it has been such an amazing day with great friends! Much Love 🙏❤️🙏 @slash @therealphilcollen @stpband @defleppard @deltadeepblues #beastlyball #hendrix #fire.”

Pattielayden commented, “You are my biggest influence playing Bass, your bass lines are the most tricky and beautiful I’ve ever heard! Learning your Bass lines has forced me into being a better Bass player!! Awesome to hear you’re making music!❤️”
