Tool members Maynard James Keenan and Justin Chancellor discussed the latest Tool album Fear Inoculum in a new article posted by Ultimate Classic Rock.

Chancellor revealed that Tool had a new album written that was canceled, “Sometimes I thought we were nearly there. We’d written an album or we had some songs that were cool, and then we’d dump the whole lot and start again. It was devastating.”

Maynard James Keenan also discussed his lyrics being seen as prophetic, “People have, I guess, complimented or acknowledge, or they claim, that there’s a lot of prophetic things that came out on [the latest APC record, 2018’s] ‘Eat the Elephant,’ prophetic things on ‘Inoculum,’ probably prophetic things on [the new Puscifer album].

But it’s not really prophetic, it’s just understanding patterns and understanding human nature and where we’re going. Although they might seem specific, they’re not. They’re human experience.

Last night we had pasta with tomatoes and basil from our garden, drinking our own wine. It’s one of those things that didn’t happen overnight. We had to work for that…I could claim, ‘Look how I was right 25 years ago when I planted that orchard and planted that garden.’ That’s absurd. I just like planting things.”

Rage Against The Machine and Tool supergroup details were recently revealed. TheHeroicOnion recently posted about the mixing on Fear Inoculum, “My favourite thing about Tool is how well mixed the drums always are. In so much music the drums sound muddy or too loud or too quiet or too harsh etc. With Tool the drums are as clear as the vocals and sound absolutely perfect in the mix in basically every song.”

2Chains1Cup responded, “I’m gonna say it, Bottrill’s mixing is far superior to Baresi’s. His albums sound incredibly warm and super clear while Baresi’s version sounds too clean and over-produced.

10,000 Days and Fear Inoculum are still great to listen to, but ÆNIMA and Lateralus are far and ahead better in terms of production. Just my opinion though.”
