Papa Roach were recently interviewed and asked about opening for Guns N’ Roses in 2006.

The interviewer mentioned that it was during the peak of ‘Dick Axl.’ Papa Roach said Axl wasn’t necessarily a dick to them, but that they did not enjoy his shenanigans on tour.

“He wasn’t a dick to us, honestly, he was never around. But in typical Axl Rose fashion it was like we were scheduled to go on at a certain time every night. Of course that time would change 3 to 4 times within that night. We’re supposed to go on at 8:30, and then they’re like, ‘Nope, you’re going on at 9. Oh, now you’re going on at 9:30. Axl’s not here yet, can you go on at 10 and play a bit longer than you’re contracted for?’ After awhile we were like, ‘No, fuck this.'”

“They even threatened to kick us off the tour at one point, he canceled a show at the very last minute. The press caught us outside and asked us why the show got canceled. We said something like, ‘I don’t know, if it was up to us, we would still play.'”

“[Axl Rose] got all pissed. didn’t they want us to write an apology letter or some shit?”

“Yeah, they wanted to apologize, we were like, no. They were like, ‘We’re going to kick you off the tour.’ We were like, ‘Okay.'”
