In a new Appetite for Distortion interview, comedian Jim Breuer, who is friends with legendary AC/DC singer Brian Johnson, said he would be in favor of Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl singing on a very limited city tour with AC/DC, as long as respect was shown for Brian Johnson.
Breuer said he did not feel respect was shown towards Johnson during the 2016 Axl Rose fronted AC/DC tour. Host Brando asked Breuer how he would feel if Brian Johnson recorded the new AC/DC album like has been rumored, but Axl Rose fronted the band on tour. Alternative Nation transcribed Breuer’s comments.
If Brian is involved, I’m good. I haven’t bought Axl yet, I’d like to see Dave Grohl go on tour with AC/DC. I would enjoy that more. Not that he needs to be the new frontman, it’s just like:
‘Hey, it’s in honor of doing AC/DC songs. I’m Dave Grohl, you know I’m a rock guy, I love them, and I’m going on tour for 8 cities.’
I would pay to see that. Axl, and everyone said [to give it a shot], if he’s recording and Axl is recording. Listen, if you treat Brian with respect, I’m in. I didn’t like the respect that was given to Brian in the last go around.”
