Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl was mocked in the early 90’s as Weird Al Yankovic released the Nirvana spoof “Smells Like Nirvana.” Good Guy Dave took it in jest, and praised Al in a new interview with Queens of the Stone Age frontman Josh Homme on Apple Music’s The Alligator Hour. Dave Grohl recently reacted to a disgusting remark from Homme.

Josh Homme: Dave does more benefits for anyone than anyone I know. I went and visited him. He was barbecuing for somebody, it was a benefit for somebody, and I went there, and we just drank, and I thought, “This is a great benefit to us both.” We were sort of talking a little bit about that, but it’s been 28 years.

Dave Grohl: It’s been a long time.

Josh Homme: That’s a long time.

Dave Grohl: It really is a long time. And especially to still be playing music. I think-

Josh Homme: It’s a luxury.

Dave Grohl: I’ve played music with you longer than anybody else in my life, I think.

Josh Homme: Yeah, it’s a great luxury.

Dave Grohl: Because I started playing with Pat not long after that. Well, maybe Pat.

Josh Homme: Yeah, maybe. Yeah, I think Pat [Smear], because of Nirvana.

Dave Grohl: Yeah, because I didn’t start playing with you until later. Yeah.

Josh Homme: That’s a blessed thing, actually.

Dave Grohl: Yeah, I wouldn’t do it with anybody else if it weren’t as good.

Josh Homme: Really? Because I just … Lately, I keep running into Weird Al Yankovic. And he’s the nicest guy of all time.

Dave Grohl: Yeah. He’s pretty good, though, you got to remember. You know, I saw him at the Paramount Theatre in Seattle in 1994, and I’m not kidding. It was one of the loudest shows I’ve ever been to.

Josh Homme: And he slays. I got to say, he slays.

Dave Grohl: Unbelievable. With costume changes?

Josh Homme: Yeah.

Dave Grohl: It was like Motorhead loud.

Josh Homme: Yeah.

Dave Grohl: I was kind of blown away.
