Dave Abbruzzese has reacted to Matt Cameron QUITTING Pearl Jam.

“All the best to the mighty Matt Cameron.”

Fans have speculated about Matt Cameron joining Foo Fighters after his Pearl Jam departure, but it seems unlikely. An Abbruzzese return to Pearl Jam also seems unlikely after their public remarks about each other.

Former Foo Fighters drummer William Goldsmith recently addressed speculation about his potential return to the band. He responded to fan questions in a post shared on Instagram.

The rumors emerged as reports floated that Foo Fighters had parted ways with drummer Josh Freese. This led to speculation that Goldsmith might rejoin the group he originally left decades ago.

A fan directly asked “Are you the new drummer of Foo Fighters??” in response to Goldsmith’s vintage footage post. The drummer provided a clear response.

“Negative old one – this was a couple lifetimes ago,” Goldsmith replied.

The exchange occurred under Goldsmith’s post featuring archival footage. He captioned it: “Foo Fighters – London ‘I’M OK, EUR OK’ from the VHS Archives of Skitty Goldsmith (My Mom) audio rescued by Curtis Haight.”

Goldsmith’s definitive response sheds light on a complex chapter in Foo Fighters history. This chapter dates back to the band’s formative years in the mid-1990s.

William Goldsmith was a founding drummer for the Foo Fighters, which evolved from Dave Grohl’s solo project into a full band. His time with the group included both creative contributions and eventual tensions. These tensions ultimately led to his departure during a critical phase in the band’s development.

Goldsmith left the band while they were recording their second album, *The Colour and the Shape*, in 1997. He quit when Grohl decided to re-record most of the drum parts himself, effectively replacing Goldsmith’s contributions to the album. This creative disagreement marked the end of Goldsmith’s time with what would become one of rock’s most successful bands.
