Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band wrapped up their “Land of Hope and Dreams Tour” earlier this month, finishing things off in Milan, Italy.
According to Billboard, Springsteen and co. grossed $729.7 million and sold 4.9 million tickets over 129 dates, making this The Boss’ most successful-ever run of shows.
This is more than double what they grossed during their previous “Wrecking Ball World Tour” in 2012/2013.
While some of this increase in revenue can be attributed to the higher cost of ticket prices plaguing the live music industry, Springsteen sold more tickets for this tour than any of his previous tours – with only 3.6 million (or 37 percent less) being sold during his “Wrecking Ball World Tour.”
Incredibly, this was not only Springsteen’s highest-grossing tour of his career, but it ranks at No. 6 on the list of the highest-grossing tours of all time. Ahead of The Boss is U2 at No. 5 (beating him by only $6.7 million), Ed Sheeran at No. 4, Elton John at No. 3, Coldplay at No. 2, and Taylor Swift topping the chart at No.1 with her recent “Eras Tour” grossing a whopping $2.1 billion.
However, Springsteen’s tour was not without controversy. During several of his shows, the legendary musician made headlines when he criticized President Donald Trump, calling him and his administration “corrupt, incompetent, and treasonous.”
In response, Trump went on a social media tirade, calling Springsteen a “dried out ‘prune’ of a rocker” who “out to KEEP HIS MOUTH SHUT until he gets back into the Country… Then we’ll all see how it goes for him!”
