Keanu Reeves is likely expressing his gratitude toward the Chilean authorities, as they are returning his expensive watches that were stolen from his Los Angeles home years ago.
Officials in Santiago, Chile, recently announced the recovery of six of Keanu’s watches, including a Rolex valued at $9,500. These timepieces were taken from his Hollywood Hills estate in December 2022.
The authorities stated that they have handed over the $125,000 worth of jewelry to the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), which is now making arrangements to return the items to the actor.
Months earlier, Chilean police launched a joint operation with the FBI to dismantle a South American burglary crew that had been targeting the homes of high-profile celebrities, including Reeves and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. During this operation, police conducted raids in Santiago and recovered Reeves’ watches, along with stolen cars, iPhones, and designer purses.
In a related note, another high-profile American, Kristi Noem, who is former President Trump’s Secretary of Homeland Security, recently flew to Chile to discuss the transnational burglary crew and related issues with local officials. In April, Noem was also a victim of theft when a Chilean national stole her pocketbook at a restaurant in Washington, D.C.
