While musician Bob Daisley is best known for his work with Ozzy Osbourne, he and the Prince of Darkness had a bit of a rocky relationship over the years. Despite their differences, Daisy admitted in a new interview with Johnny Beane that Osbourne’s death hit him hard.

“That’s all very sad. The day that I found out that Ozzy had gone, it brought tears to my eyes, I tell you. Just because all the good memories came flooding back, all the good stuff, you know? The creativity, the laugh, the humor, the good times, all came flooding back,” he said.

Daisley continued, recalling what the late Black Sabbath singer was really like behind the scenes. When asked specifically if it was true that Ozzy was “the ultimate prankster,” he replied:

“Yeah, he was. We all had fun together. There was a lot of fun in that music. And I think, if you’re enjoying it and having a good time and having fun doing it, that comes out in the music. And certainly, [it’s] an important ingredient.”

Seventeen days before he passed away on July 22nd, Osbourne performed for the final time at “Back to the Beginning” alongside the original members of Black Sabbath. Ozzy had been battling several health issues for the last few years, including Parkinson’s disease. In a recent interview following his death, his bandmate Tony Iommi said that he thinks the late frontman held on just long enough to perform one last time.

“I think he really just held out to do that show,” Iommi told ITV. “I really feel — and me and Geezer [Butler] were talking about it last night — that we think he held out to do it, and just after that, he’s done it and said goodbye to the fans. And that was the end of it, really.”
