Billy Corgan has hired Kid Tigrrr to be bassist for his solo band The Machines of God. She looks similar to original Smashing Pumpkins bassist D’arcy Wretzky.
Smashing Pumpkins frontman Billy Corgan recently sat down for an interview with The Guardian during which he was asked to name a few songs that have a personal meaning to him and that have influenced him over the years.
Some of the tracks he named were “She Loves You” by the Beatles (which was the first single he ever bought), “Wish You Were Here” by Pink Floyd (which he says makes him cry), and Katy Perry’s “Roar” (which he admits he secretly likes).
Corgan was then asked which song he would like to be played at his funeral. Somewhat surprisingly, he named one of his own tracks.
“I’d probably pick one of my own just to make some sort of posthumous, bitter point: ‘You should have paid more attention to me when I was here.’ ‘To Sheila’ from the ‘Adore’ album by Smashing Pumpkins would be a good one, if you’re sitting there, mourning my loss,” he responded.
This wasn’t the only Smashing Pumpkins song to make the list, though. Corgan also named one of the band’s most popular tracks as his most recent go-to karaoke song.
“The last song I did at karaoke was ‘Zero’ by Smashing Pumpkins. I thought it would be funny to sing my own song, but the longer it went, the more I performed it like I was on stage in front of 50,000 people, and the less people thought it was funny,” he said.
