Smashing Pumpkins frontman and NWA owner Billy Corgan paid tribute to WWE legend Jim ‘The Anvil’ Neidhart on his Instagram page on Monday. Neidhart was part of the legendary Canadian wrestling Hart family, and part of the Hart Foundation with Bret ‘The Hitman’ Hart.

“So sad to note the passing of Jim Neidhart, famed professional wrestler and father of one of my dearest friends, Nattie. ‘The Anvil’, as he was known to all, was a gregarious, bear of a man who’s laugh was infectious and who had the twinkle in his eye you see in all free spirits. I mourn this loss deeply with his beautiful family, for I know first hand how much Jim is loved. The picture here with Nattie and I was taken just a few days back, at SP’s Tampa show, and I will always hold dear our moments together. The Anvil was one of a kind, and I’ll send a big prayer up tonight from the stage asking God to look after him well. RIP Anvil!”

Corgan also wrote on Instagram about attending Sunday’s Chicago Cubs baseball game with bandmates James Iha and Jimmy Chamberlin.

“SP Magic! Threw out first pitch, sang Zth Inning stretch, and @cubs win with walk-off grand slam by Bote! What a game. @smashingpumpkins.”
