Billy Corgan has reacted to a fan asking The Smashing Pumpkins to perform “Daydream” at a concert on the Shiny and Oh So Bright tour. “Daydream” appeared on Gish and featured former bassist D’arcy Wretzky on lead vocals.

A fan asked Corgan on Instagram, “I was waiting for you to play Daydream in Phoenix… 🙁 Can you play it at your next show?”

Corgan responded, “Statues can’t sing.”

Jack Bates is playing bass on the Shiny and Oh So Bright tour, replacing D’arcy, who was expected to return to the band for a full reunion. Drummer Jimmy Chamberlin recently praised Bates on Instagram.

“Loving sharing the stage with this guy every night. @jackbass89 provides an incredible foundation and plays with a grace and style that is way beyond his years. We are having the time of our lives out here and I sincerely mean that. I look forward to every note of this magical journey. #besttimes #smashingpumpkins.”

Chamberlin also recently announced that his cat Willie Boy has launched an official Instagram account.

“Willie Boy has gotten so famous that people are now asking about him on the street and at airports. We thought it only right that he should have his own account. Follow him @willie_silverboy ! #orientalcatsofinstagram.”

Ironically, D’arcy referred to Billy Corgan as ‘Willie’ in the comments section of Alternative Nation a few months ago.
