Charlie Sheen’s just as polarizing as any other celebrity in the world thanks to his incredibly controversial actions and opinions. However, it appears that Sheen really wasn’t a fan of how Howard Stern conducted an interview with him in 2011.

Charlie Sheen Explains Why He’s Not a Fan of Howard Stern’s Interview Style

Charlie Sheen said he felt there was a real chance for him and Howard Stern to have a meaningful conversation especially since they both shared the experience of being fired by CBS/Viacom. Sheen prepared for the interview seriously, waking up at 3 AM, working out, showering, and being ready for a 4:45 AM call on the West Coast.

Alternative Nation transcribed Sheen’s remarks from a Dr. Drew podcast interview.

“I felt there was a real opportunity for Howard and I to take it out of the gutter and discuss something we both had in common, which was being fired by CBS—by Viacom. So I thought we could sort of bond on that. I remember I woke up at 3 AM, did a quick workout, took a shower, had to be… on the West Coast, had to be on the phone with him at 4:45, something ungodly.”

The Interview Took an Unexpected Turn

According to Sheen, Howard opened the conversation with a shocking, absolutely graphic question about one of Sheen’s past girlfriends, completely derailing the tone Sheen hoped for since he obviously didn’t want to talk about his past girlfriend engaging in orgies. After that, Sheen said it was impossible to steer the interview back to a real discussion.

“So he opens with, ‘Hey, it’s nice to meet you, whatever. How does it feel to see one of your girlfriends in a bukkake orgy doing an*l with a bunch of Black guys?’ That’s what he opened with!”

Why the Connection Never Happened

Sheen explained that from the moment Howard went straight into explicit “gutter” talk, he knew there wasn’t going to be any meaningful connection. He said he had never met Stern before, and that moment made it clear the conversation wouldn’t go the way he had hoped.

“So how do you get that back to… ‘I don’t worry about that stuff, but let’s talk about what you and I have in common’? I knew there wasn’t gonna be a connection beyond the gutter stuff I just mentioned, you know. I’ve never met him.”
