Dave Grohl reunites with Shane Hawkins

Dave Grohl performed with Taylor Hawkins’ son Shane Hawkins this past weekend in California at Chevy Metal’s concert. Taylor used to play with Chevy Metal before he died, so it was a fitting and touching moment. This comes months after rumors that Shane Hawkins would join Foo Fighters.

Sebastian Bach wrote, “Such a fun night for such a great cause @eastwoodranch in Agoura Hills @canyonagoura with @chevy_metal !! it was really cool to reunite with my Supergroup (Well, it’s a group 😆) friends Mr. @scottianthrax & @pearlcaliforniacountry after a long time ✌️ and to jam with his cool talented son @revwas super fun!

Dave Grohl Joins Shane Hawkins for Chevy Metal Tribute

This past weekend delivered a powerful full-circle moment in Southern California when Dave Grohl stepped onstage with Shane Hawkins, son of the late Taylor Hawkins, during a Chevy Metal performance. Chevy Metal, the hard-rock cover band Taylor loved to play with whenever Foo Fighters had downtime, has carried on in tribute to the rock legend. Seeing Grohl stand shoulder-to-shoulder with Shane marked one of the most emotional reunions of the pair since Taylor’s tragic passing in 2022.

The set was packed with classic rock staples, and the crowd erupted when Grohl strapped on his guitar and locked in with Shane behind the kit.

Fans online quickly shared clips of the moment, describing it as a healing and uplifting moment. Grohl, visibly moved, let Shane take the spotlight, encouraging the young drummer as he powered through songs.

For Foo Fighters fans, it was a glimpse of two generations in action.
