Dave Matthews Condemns Trump Administration and ICE
Dave Matthews criticized the Trump administration and ICE following the fatal shooting of Renee Nicole Good in Minneapolis. In a long video shared on his birthday, Matthews said, “I don’t like these monsters that are running the show right now.”
He began by talking about gratitude and responsibility, saying, “I think about how lucky I’ve been in my life, here in this land… They can raise my taxes, as far as I’m concerned.” However, he added that taxes should support public good, listing things like “bridges, national parks, libraries, raising the minimum wage, paying nurses, free university… free healthcare… school lunches.”
Matthews was clear about what he opposes, saying, “I don’t want my taxes to go toward invading foreign countries over false premises… or paying for ICE—masked thugs to roam our streets and terrorize our communities and rip families apart.”
Anger Over Renee Nicole Good’s Death
Matthews focused heavily on the killing of Renee Nicole Good, saying videos of the incident show her trying to get away. He rejected official explanations that claimed she was a threat and said the shooting appeared unjustified. He urged people not to ignore what they see and called the situation deeply upsetting.
“From most angles, it looks like she was trying to get away, and he shot her three times in the head—murdered in cold blood.” He added, “We can’t just let it slide.” https://twitter.com/redlinenewsusa/status/2009996546319036718?s=46
