Foo Fighters recently performed on Amazon Music Live, but fans didn’t quite match the band’s intensity.
Foo Fighters fans seemed low on energy
The band kept their set relatively short and sweet, playing just 11 songs, compared to their usual marathon sets of 20-plus tunes. Still, the band performed hits from across their catalog, with their show-opening performance of “All My Life.”
Despite Dave Grohl and company tearing through classics like “Learn to Fly,” the crowd appeared unusually subdued for a Foo Fighters show. The atmosphere could be labeled as one of the most mellow we’ve ever seen at one of the band’s performances, with many attendees seemingly unfamiliar with the group’s catalog.
A large portion of the audience reportedly seemed to be first time seeing the Foo Fighters live which is a rarity for a band that’s been packing arenas and festivals for nearly three decades.
Grohl appeared to notice the laid back nature of the fans, responding in his typically animated fashion, but holding back from his usual good-natured teasing of first-timers (he didn’t lovingly call them motherf**kers).
Foo Fighters returned to the stage in September, performing a few shows where they introduced their new drummer, Ilan Rubin, who replaced Josh Freese.
Since then, they have played several major shows in Asia and have announced a North American stadium tour for 2026. The tour is set to begin on August 4th, 2026, in Toronto and will conclude on September 26th in Las Vegas, with Queens of the Stone Age as the opening act.
Foo Fighters also appear to be prepping a new album. In July, they dropped a new track, “Today’s Song,” and the 2026 tour announcement was accompanied by a new single, “Asking for a Friend.”
In a statement, Grohl said the song was “for those who have waited patiently in the cold, relying on hope and faith for their horizon to appear. Searching for ‘proof’ when hanging by a wish until the sun shines again. One of many songs to come…”
