Foo Fighters recently performed on Amazon Music Live and a promotional clip on social media from Amazon Music Live ‘Behind the Beat,’ features a playful conversation between the Foo Fighters and Amazon’s Alexa. This marks their first interview since Josh Freese was let go from the band and replaced by Ilan Rubin as drummer.

Foo Fighters members talk to Alexa

Alternative Nation has summarized the interview. It begins with Alexa demonstrating her usual skills, answering a cooking question about bolognese, before shifting into the main segment with the Foo Fighters. The band introduces themselves and says Alexa will be keeping them “honest” as they talk through moments from their 30-year career.

Throughout the video, Alexa answers various questions about the Foo Fighters’ music:

When asked to describe the new song “Asking for a Friend” in three words, Alexa replies “hypnotic, explosive, introspective.”

She announced that the band’s next stadium tour begins August 4th at Rogers Stadium in Toronto.

When asked where “Wasting Light” was recorded, Alexa correctly says it was done in Dave Grohl’s garage in Encino, California. The band laughs, joking that Alexa might overdo the answer.

She also explains that the band’s all-analog recording approach on Wasting Light helped make the album feel more human and authentic.

Later, Alexa shares that Japan inspired “Asking for a Friend”, citing a letter Grohl wrote about seeing Mount Fuji — an experience he described as breathtaking. The band is amused and surprised that Alexa knows that detail.

When Alexa calculates that six days equals 8,640 minutes, she adds that Dave Grohl wrote the entire debut Foo Fighters album in six days, prompting jokes about how many songs that could be.

The exchange ends humorously with Dave telling Alexa, “Hey Alexa, you can call me Dave,” followed by the band laughing and Dave exclaiming, “That was fu**ing awesome.”
