Earlier this week, Foo Fighters announced they will be performing several dates across Asia – including Japan, Singapore, and Indonesia. During the announcement for the Foos’ show in Jakarta, Indonesia (which marks their first time playing in the country since 1996) the band’s tour rider was made public by local concert promoter Ravel Entertainment.

According to Ravel Entertainment CEO Ravel Junardy, Dave Grohl and co. had to request permission to swear, smoke, and drink.

“They’ve asked for the freedom to curse on stage, as well as permission to smoke and drink during the show,” Junardy. “As long as it doesn’t touch on sensitive topics like race, religion, or Indonesian cultural values, we’ll allow it.”

According to Consequence, Junardy’s warning to the band about “sensitive topics” has to do with Indonesia’s decency laws. Punishment for breaking these broadly-defined laws range from paying a fine to years in prison.

Junardy also stated that the band’s tour rider includes flying their own private chef in to handle catering the event. The promoter, however, plans on introducing them to the local cuisine as well. “We’ve received their menu, but we’ll also serve them some local specialties,” he stated.

Junardy added that Foo Fighters’ upcoming concert will be one of the most technical and ambitious rock shows Jakarta has ever put on. While the band is bringing 12 containers of stage and production gear, the city is facing one major challenge of acquiring a particular type of stage lighting that is unavailable in Indonesia.

“We’re importing the lights to meet their standards,” Junardy said. “The Foo Fighters stage will definitely be more spectacular than what we built for Green Day.”
