Foo Fighters will release their new album in fall 2020, Alternative Nation has learned. Many had speculated that Foo Fighters, like many other bands, would postpone their new album until 2021 when they can tour again. It appears the Foos are going the route that The Killers have gone, with the Las Vegas rock trio releasing their new album Imploding The Mirage without being able to tour.

The Killers have promoted their album with television and internet performances, and Dave Grohl will definitely have even more innovative ideas up his sleeve to promote a new album release without an imminent tour.

Foo Fighters were set to recreate their first 1995 van tour this year in arenas to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their debut album and tour. Dave Grohl initially had an idea to re-record the debut album (that he recorded himself) with Foo Fighters’ current lineup, but guitarist Pat Smear shot down that idea.

Foo Fighters are also eligible for induction into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2021, which would be Grohl’s second induction after Nirvana in 2014. Dave Grohl is also working on multiple documentary projects, including one with his mother, and he released a long solo track called “Play” a couple of years ago. Foo Fighters and Smashing Pumpkins member recently confirmed a festival.

More recently, Grohl has been engaging in drum offs on Twitter with a kid named Nandi Bushell.

Nandi tweeted, “It was an honour to be part of the most #EPIC #ROCK in battle in #HISTORY! With the most awesome, fun, kind and legendary #DaveGrohl! Thank you for giving me this incredible opportunity. I am extremely grateful. The Rock Gods of old are happy! @foofighters @crookedvultures.”

Grohl responded, “Ok, @Nandi_Bushell ……you win round one….but it ain’t over yet! Buckle up, cuz I have something special in mind…Stay tuned, Dave.”

Nandi had first challenged Grohl a few days ago, with him writing, “Hey @Nandi_Bushell! Challenge accepted. Haven’t played these songs in a loooooong time…..thanks for the inspiration!!! Your move!!! Your friend in rock, Dave (Thanks to my daughter, Harper for letting me borrow her drum set).”
