Green Day react to SpaceX launch before their performance

Green Day called out Elon Musk after a SpaceX rocket launched just prior to their performance at the Ohana Festival during Cage The Elephant’s sub-headlining performance. While Cage The Elephant seemed to enjoy the visual of the SpaceX rocket lighting the beachfront festival sky, Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong took the opportunity to mock SpaceX founder Elon Musk.

Billie Joe called out Musk during Green Day’s performance. As transcribed by Alternative Nation, Billie Joe said, “I was [watching the rocket] like, there goes the Epstein files!” He then called out Elon’s ‘ugly trucks.’ He said he sees a lot in Orange County, and said, ‘Can’t you just be a regular redneck and have a f**king ram?”

Elon Musk was part of President Trump’s administration for its early months, before leaving and turning against President Trump, before reconciling with him recently at Charlie Kirk’s memorial event.

The SpaceX launch and Billie Joe making his feelings known about Musk and his companies made it quite the memorable night and a snapshot of America in 2025. Green Day played all of their 90’s and 2000’s hits during their Ohana Festival set, with Pearl Jam singer Eddie Vedder joining them at the end of the show.
